Obligatory Baby-Food-All-Over-Face Photos

You're not a real parent until you've shown everyone how messy mealtime with an infant can be, right?

Well, since I know that we're real parents...and just to prove it...see below:

This Just In...

...Chloë likes lemons!

We thought we'd get a sour-puss out of her by letting her suck on a lemon...but for a confirmed third time...she loves 'em! Can't get enough of 'em! I guess I'll have to figure out some other way to get my cheap laughs.

And now, a video of her dropping off in her high-chair. If you listen closely you can hear her snoring.

And if you're too lazy to watch a 15 second video...here's some pics.

Wise Like A Five Year-Old

The other day, Sarah was reading a few chapters out of The Preschooler's Bible to Aiden and there was a question presented for the reader to ponder: "Do you want to go to heaven?"
Sarah: Do you want to go to heaven?
Aiden: No. I'd rather stay here with you.

We've started giving Aiden "big people" jobs (like taking out the garbage and such) to do around the house now that he's strapping and all. But tonight we started calling them "chores".
Aiden: What does "chores" mean?
Robert: It means "jobs you do around the house".
Aiden: So I'm like a slave?
Robert: Ummm. Not really - but sort of.

He claims that his teacher at Kingsway Christian School taught them what slaves were in the bible. Clearly they're working out of the Old Testament right now.

And now, shameless pictures of a kid.
Aiden at Jamison Square Park in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon - February 2008. I call this one, "Wise like the bear" - I don't know what that means, but it just came to my head.

And another gratuitous shot of Aiden practicing his groin shots.

Next time we'll have some great shots of Chloë from Sarah's phone.

It's Park Season!

Ah yes, the time of year when we all emerge from our dens of carpet and incandescent lights...the time of year when we seek to enjoy the bounty of our municiple tax payments...the time of year when the sun comes out just long enough to shoo away the rain...

The time of year to enjoy a new park!

Our newest park in our neighborhood is pretty cool. It has a skate-ramp for the lil' middle school plywood pushers, two play structures, and very nice walking trails. The water fountain even has a little one that is at dog-dish height! ("No Aiden, that one's not for people.")

Aiden "The Assassin" Leary

Aiden has been taking Kenpo Karate for a little over a month now...and it's pretty impressive to see how they show him to not get taken by a stranger...and then put a fist in an adams apple!

Quarter-Century In The Books!

Sarah turned 25 yesterday, March 1st.

We had a pretty good time just drinking coffee, lounging around, and driving to look at some real estate (we're seriously looking to buy, more on that later) with the kids. We went to dinner at a new sushi bar in our neighborhood called Sushi Tsunami. Probably some of the best sushi we've had - maybe ever - we ate raw octopus, squid, eel, and the like from the rotating bar of choices (yes, Aiden tried all of it too, he loves sushi).

Chloë and Aiden and I got her a few items she's been wanting and we picked out some flowers for her just to brighten the house (Aiden's idea). Aiden also took it upon himself to make her a special "birthday crown" to eat the awesome dark-chocolate cake she baked (yes, she wanted to bake her own cake on her own birthday)...you can see it all below.

Happy Birthday, my love. I can't wait to say it again at the half-century mark!

And just for good measure...a bonus Chloë pic!

Also, keep us in your prayers. On top of life's normal challenges for us, we're looking to buy a house. We've grown out of our two-bedroom+loft townhouse and would prefer to stop renting. We'd rather not have any kids' "rooms" in a loft, so we're looking for a 3-bedroom, 2-bath house in Vancouver and our budget is very limited (thus, so is our selection of houses that aren't total fixer/overhaul/crime properties!). We know that God is faithful and will provide when he sees fit for us, but a little prayer from our friends and family always seems to make things better!
