Sunsets and a Bottle of Coke

After all this, they learned to play tunes on the Coke bottle - it's an American art form (kinda like Jazz and Rock).

Aiden took this last one.

The Father's Day Goods

Sarah had the kids make me coffee mugs to take to work. Aiden also made a paperweight at school for my office with a drawing of the two of us playing air hockey.
(Note to reader: we've never played air hockey.)
(Note to self: play air hockey with Aiden ASAP!)

Getting Dressed

  • Robert: Here’s your clothes, please get dressed now.
  • Aiden (nearly 7): Why do you always try to make me look good?

Eating Breakfast

  • Robert: *Gives Chloë a sausage link*
  • Chloë (1.75): Shashage!

Aiden's 7th Birthday Party

Words that describe Aiden's 7th Birthday party:
Whiffle Ball in the street. BBQ. Watermelon. Home-made Yoda cake. Guitar Hero.

This is the picture that I think best describes the joy Aiden felt this day. I have to be honest with you, when I snapped this shot, it made all the hard work pay off in one instant.

The Cake:
*Sarah spent 5 hours on it until 11pm the night before
*It was a mighty fine Yoda, chocolate on chocolate double layer cake
*Kids at the table: "I want some of the Yoda face!"

The Afterparty

As you know, Aiden finished Kindergarten - so we took the day to celebrate. I got him a wiffle ball set (which he likes), but when Sarah came in with a trip to go ice skating - that's all he could think about.

Aiden Finishes Kindergarten

Aiden is now done with kindergarten at King's Way Christian School. One thing that is different from when I was in school is the fact that they celebrate kindergarten "graduation"...don't get me started on how strange it is to me...when I was younger, I was happy just to have summer break and a ticket to the next grade.

In Pictures

They had a party at Vancouver Lake Park. Notice the stretch Hummer and Escalade limos - it's actually cheaper than taking a bus!

Unfortunately, none of our ceremony pics turned out very well - and the one that another mom got was of Aiden picking his nose on stage...well done!

Reincarnation

Sarah has a serious "thing" about sugar. As in, she likes it a lot. We have two female Anna's Hummingbirds who battle over our deck flowers and feeder for 12 hours/day.
  • Sarah: Do they eat anything beside's our sugar water and pollen from our flowers?
  • Robert: Nope, their hearts and wings beat so fast that's what they need to keep going. Sugar.
  • Sarah: Nice. If I was to be reincarnated, I'd come back as a hummingbird.
  • Robert: Fitting. You're radiantly beautiful and you like sugar.

F-14 Momma

Sarah helped Aiden (almost 7) draw an F-14 Tomcat from a book (and by "help", I mean "did all of it"). Aiden brought it back with his own addition for her.
